Soil probe
Driven into the ground, it tracks soil moisture and temperature through the dielectric constant in up to five layers, every 10 cm. The PVC tube lets the high-frequency sensing wave, close to 1 GHz, through without interference from soil salts. It is the data that shows when a slope is close to saturation and when a crop really needs irrigation.
